Controller (Contract)

**This position is a four-month contract with potential for extension.**

**Responsibilities include**:

- Responsible for full cycle accounting of Canadian and US-based subsidiaries.
- Manage journal entries and reconciliations in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Responsible for monthly reconciling of our internal billing portal.
- Producing and executing bi-monthly payroll for Canada and US-based subsidiaries.
- Responsible for the accurate, complete and timely closing of month end.
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows.
- Provide analytical support to senior management to support key business decisions.
- Design and/or optimize processes and efficient solutions for operational and financial reporting, with a strong bias to automate and build for scale.
- Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies.
- Responsible for leading a small team to develop streamlined processes and create efficiencies.
- Work closely with the CFO on ad hoc projects and direction of the finance organization.

Key Competencies include:

- Ability to design and implement accounting and finance processes, standards, and procedures, with a bias towards reliance on modern SaaS tools.
- Detail-oriented and analytical with the ability to proactively identify value-added opportunities and bring them to CFO and/or management’s attention.

- Strong communication skills (oral, written, and presentation) to effectively convey financial and strategic information.
- Strong project management skills and ability to set objectives and deliver results.

Qualifications:

- Post-secondary degree in accounting from an accredited institution; CPA required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance and accounting experience required.
- Interest in actively learning US-based subsidiaries.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with ERPs such as QuickBooks and Sage, and SaaS related software suites preferred.
- Organized, reliable, and able to carry out tasks autonomously, and collaboratively.
- Works well under pressure with multiple concurrent deadlines.
- Must be fluent in English, both oral and written.

**Location**:
This role is hybrid in nature, and the time spent at the office and remote and will be determined in consultation with the CFO.

Contract length: 4 months

**Salary**: $120,000.00-$135,000.00 per year

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Accounting: 5 years (preferred)
- progressive finance and accounting: 5 years (preferred)
