Calgary, Canada CAUSE Canada Full time

The Controller will be responsible for the end-to-end financial processes at CAUSE Canada, including overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping in the Canada office and consolidation of reporting from field offices in Sierra Leone, Guatemala, and Honduras. The Controller will play a pivotal role in the financial health of CAUSE Canada. Bringing a strategic perspective to the organization’s finance and accounting needs and financial information vital to the decision making process.

The Controller reports directly to the Executive Director. Accountants in CAUSE Canada’s offices overseas report functionally to the Controller.

This position is 0.8 FTE (30 hrs per week) and offers hybrid working arrangements.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Oversee finance departments in Canada, Sierra Leone, Guatemala, and Honduras including:_
- Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions with field offices.
- Developing and maintaining systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization and oversee financial aspects of all programs in Canada and overseas.
- Overseeing the coordination and activities of external auditors ensuring compliance with provincial and federal laws and applicable international laws.
- Reporting activities for the organization_
- Preparing financial reporting to diverse stakeholders including to government, intergovernmental, foundations, and Board of Directors.
- Working closely with the Executive Director in preparation of financial budgets for new proposals and projects.
- Developing an operating budget in coordination with team members to ensure programmatic success.
- Ensure compliance with Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (“ASNPO”)
- Financial management_
- Assisting in developing projections and cashflows.
- Overseeing all purchasing and payroll activity for Canadian staff.
- Monitoring banking activities and managing foreign exchange transactions.
- Overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.

**Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required**:
University degree: Completion of a bachelor's degree in Business or Finance at an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience. CPA designation is preferred.

Experienced in not-for-profit accounting in accordance with Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (“ASNPO”)

Ability to work within a Christian framework and sensitivity to its various expressions across cultures and denominations.

Commitment to CAUSE Canada’s mission, vision and strategy.

Five years of financial experience and management experience with the day-to-day financial operations of an organization.

Proficiency in general office software, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks.

Fluence in Spanish is highly desirable.Willingness to travel outside Canada at least twice a year. Flexibility to travel and work onsite.
