Investigations Team Lead - Full Time (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada)
Reporting to the Investigations Manager, this position will be responsible for conducting thorough and detailed covert surveillance investigations both by vehicle and/or on foot, as well as lead a team of surveillance investigators through guidance, mentorship, and support.

Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations in a manner that makes strategic sense and that are coordinated with the client’s intent, seeking guidance from management as required
- Conduct assignments in a proper investigative sequence including pre-operation planning, assignment, assessment, evidence collection, and reporting
- Produce accurate and detailed notes and reports in accordance with Xpera’s protocols and practices
- Ensure compliance with defined procedures, practices, and standards as set out by Xpera, as well as follow Provincial and Federal legislation.
- Obtain information or intelligence in a legal, ethical, and confidential manner as required
- Attend court or legal proceedings as required
- Attend staff meetings and training as required
- Maintain vehicle and equipment in good working condition, suitable to work and functions
- Act in a consultative and advisory capacity to train, coach, monitor, and mentor Investigators; provide meaningful feedback for the purposes of growth and development
- Schedule and assign surveillance assignments to the appropriate Investigator on your team, based on need
- Closely monitor the investigative progress of your team’s assignments and, in coordination with the investigator assigned to the file, make strategic changes where necessary
- Closely monitor your team’s assignment timelines and trial fees to ensure assignments are completed on time and within budget
- In concert with the investigator assigned to the file, update clients on surveillance progress and provide information which may assist in determining the best course of action in moving forward
- Respond to client requests with a quick, flexible, and operational approach that is based on sound strategy, and coordinated with Xpera’s policies and procedures
- Other duties as required
Qualifications & Education:
- Hold a valid Private Investigator License within Alberta
- Strong command of the English language (written and oral) is essential to success in this role
- Professional/Technical Certification or Licenses
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Advanced report writing abilities
- Reliable and suitable vehicle currently insured for commercial purposes and a clean driving record
- Experience managing a team or providing training and mentorship to others
- Preference will be given to those with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in field surveillance investigations
- Previous experience working in a client focused environment
- Knowledge of all levels of the Canadian court system, criminal and civil code in Canada, insurance law, and privacy legislation is an asset
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as criminology, or former law enforcement experience is an asset.

- Is prepared to work under pressure and meet demanding timelines; ability to multi-task while maintaining focus on the task at hand
- Has the flexibility to work irregular hours and days - evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required
