- Reporting to the Director, the Education & Public Programs Coordinator plays a lead role in developing and executing the delivery of engaging educational experiences. The EPPC works closely with a highly motivated museum experience team to create visitor-centred, comprehensive, and dynamic experiences that inspire diverse audiences. The EPPC is responsible for refining existing programming, developing learning resources and a training program for the museum experience team.
- The Education & Public Programs Coordinator role is to build capacity in the museum experience teams and is committed to ensuring the quality and effectiveness of their interpretive efforts through new inclusive and accessible initiatives.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews and refines the existing educational programs.
- Assists in the review of the education and programming policy and ensure implementation.
- Creates learning resources and delivers training for the museum experiences team.
- Writes material to create learning resources to share stories stemming from the exhibits, the collection, and deliver training to the museum experience staff in delivery of education programs.
- Collaborates with the Cataloguing Coordinator in the selection of artefacts to create unique educational tools through digital environments, online exhibits and interactive learning.
- Leads brainstorming sessions with the museum experiences team in enhancing existing programs, in creating and implementing new initiatives to ensure audience accessibility, diversity and equity
- Develops learning goals, objectives and outcomes and performance measures.
- Implements a variety of learning strategies to engage diverse audiences.
- Trains, supervises and supports museum experiences staff.
- Tests all pilot educational programs and refines as required.
- Assigns educational programming related duties to members of the museum experiences team
- Collaborates with the MOEC to ensure that the website is current with all education program information.
- Collaborates with MOEC on sharing programming knowledge internally and externally (eg: through blogs, social channels, publications, outreach activities)
- Collaborates with the MOEC in the creation of promotional materials related to educational and public programming.
- Participates in developing the museum’s annual calendar of events and programs.
- Maintains supplies and manages organization of materials for the educational and public programs.
- Assists with recruitment efforts for museum experiences staff, participate in interviews as required.
- Submits quarterly activity reports to the Director.
- Other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary degree in Education, Museum Studies, History, Cultural Studies or equivalent work experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues as a collaborative team player
- Understanding in communicating and engaging with culturally diverse communities
- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills
