Research across UHN's five research institutes spans the full spectrum of diseases and disciplines, including cancer, cardiovascular sciences, transplantation, neural and sensory sciences, musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation sciences, and community and population health. The Schwartz lab is interested in developing new methods and algorithms to understand the role of cellular heterogeneity in evolutionary responses to strong selection, such as the adaptive immune response and drug treatment in cancer. We are a new computational lab especially interested in the emergence of cells resistant to cancer treatment and how they interact with their microenvironment.

**Qualifications**:

- Strong background in Linux and Python
- Strong background in statistics and machine learning
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Experience with version control, specifically Git and GitHub
- Experience with Next generation sequencing (NGS) data formats such as FASTQ, BAM, Matrix Market, and HDF5 is a plus
- Experience with Haskell, R, and LaTeX is a plus
- Willingness to work in a team environment as well as independently
