**Schedule**: Full-time, Monday to Friday (35 hour work-week)

**Location**: The successful applicant will be expected to reside in the Greater Toronto Area for the duration of the postdoctoral appointment, and to be an active colleague, working in-person, within Victoria University in the University of Toronto.

Position Summary

Victoria University in the University of Toronto is pleased to announce an interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Fellow opening for recent recipients of a Ph.D. in communication, computational social science, disability studies, cognitive science, or related areas.
This Postdoctoral Fellow position seeks applicants to work with Dr. Rhonda McEwen and members of the etal Lab on a funded project to design and develop software tools that provide persons with cognitive disabilities and their caregivers improved access to services and research findings.
This early-stage project focuses on the means by which technologies can facilitate information access to improve outcomes for those diagnosed with mild to severe cognitive impairments associated with autism spectrum disorders, persistent mental illness, brain injury, stroke, dementias, etc. The project will use participatory design and multi-method approaches to examine constraints of, and opportunities afforded by current systems in Canada. The project will include collaborations with researchers in other research organisations and governmental agencies.

**Responsibilities**:
Completes a broad variety of research and related support for the project, to include:

- Conduct work with principal investigator, Dr. Rhonda McEwen, and other investigators in related research projects at Victoria University, the University of Toronto, and at other institutions involved with the project - such as Autism Speaks Canada; the Geneva Centre for Autism, Holland-Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Hospital, and university partner institutions.
- Perform the role of key coordinator for the project.
- Publish and present research results in the form of articles in established international peer reviewed journals and papers at domestic and international conferences.
- Contribute to the generation of additional research funding from national and international funding agencies and other organizations.
- Develop and maintain close contacts with relevant organizations and professionals for the project.
- Mentor highly qualified professionals within the lab environment at Victoria University in the University of Toronto.

**Qualifications**:
Education
- Recent PhD degree in a relevant area, strong skills in quantitative data analysis, and an interest in mixed-method research design

Experience
- Proven track-record for successfully engaging in self-directed research.
- Prior work in, or knowledge of information theory and/or disability studies is an asset.
