Job Description
- REPORTING TO/DEPARTMENT:
Reports to the Senior Manager, Microwave & Linac Engineering in the Linac Systems department
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work on the design and testing of electron linear accelerator microwave subsystem
- Assist in building a test bed consisting of a pulse modulator, high power magnetron and microwave waveguide network
- Develop knowledge in the basic function and operation of specific components
- Assist in the development of a computer monitoring, data acquisition system to monitor key operational characteristics of the network using LabView
- Gain proficiency in programming in LabView
- Develop a routine for cycle testing the microwave subsystem for 24/7 reliability testing
- Attend department meetings to learn about a variety of engineering developments
- Participate in related efforts that the Linac Systems R&D team is working on with opportunities for additional hands-on work
- Engage with cross-functional engineering to understand roles and responsibilities within the organization

- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Preferred or Desired:

- Familiarity with lab instruments and data analysis
- Experience with LabView a plus
- Required:

- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering disciplines (must have completed at least two years)
- Familiarity and comfort with debugging
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills
- Ability to regularly work on-site at the Sunnyvale Accuray campus
- WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Indoor Environment: The position takes place indoors, providing a comfortable and climate-controlled workspace
- Sedentary Work: This role involves extended periods of sitting and working at a desk, requiring good ergonomic practices
- Minimal Physical Strain: While physical demands are generally low, occasional light lifting and moving of objects might be required
- Structured Schedule: This position usually follows regular business hours, promoting a consistent and predictable work routine
