**Job Posting**
- The Building Monitor position monitors the use of the facility and provides customer service to programs and rentals under the direction of the Coordinator and Admin Support.
- **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provides friendly customer service to both internal and external clients.
- Opens, secures, and closes the building.
- Greets the arriving public and monitors their whereabouts in the building.
- Review the rental checklist with the client before the start of their event.
- Assists clients with setting up/taking down the reception hall equipment, tables, and chairs.
- Monitors the upper deck area to ensure alcohol stays within the designated area.
- Advises clients that the smoking area is up near the parking lot.
- Keeps track of equipment such as speakers, microphones, projectors, and chalkboards during events and ensures their return afterwards.
- Sets up and takes down outdoor wedding and event signage.
- In case of any spills or mess on the floor during events, assists the client in cleaning it up.
- Completes the daily checklist and rental report.
- Takes messages (if required).
- Controls entry into restricted areas of the St. Mary’s Boat Club.
- Dispenses items from the First Aid Kit as required.
- Completes incident and emergency forms as required.
- Other related duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education & Experience**
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Previous event experience is considered an asset.
- Previous customer service experience is considered an asset.
- Must enjoy working with the public.
- Must enjoy working in a customer service capacity.

**Technical/Job-Specific Knowledge and Abilities**
- Strong customer service skills with knowledge of communications, public relations, and customer service principles.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; organize and manage time effectively, work effectively in a team environment or independently.

**Security Clearance Requirements**:Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.-

- **WORK STATUS**: Casual, part-time scheduled shifts
- **HOURS OF WORK**:Applicants who are selected will be provided with a list of available shifts every month, depending on the events that are scheduled. Generally, the shifts available are weekend daytime shifts (9:00 am - 6:00 pm) and evening shifts (weekday and weekend / 6:00 pm - 1:00 am).
- **SALARY**: $16.20 per hour (as of April 1, 2024)
- **WORK LOCATION**:St. Mary’s Boat Club, 1641 Fairfield Road, Halifax, NS
