Thanks to Canada Summer Jobs, the John Howard Society is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator for an 8-week contract to help us create and establish our Volunteer management processes and program.

Are you under the age of 30 and looking for meaningful and quality work experience, having a direct impact on an organization and the community in which it serves?

**Volunteer Coordinator is **about establishing, building and cultivating a volunteer program at John Howard Society SENB.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Establish and oversee all training requirements of volunteers

Identify suitable roles within the volunteer portfolio and create appropriate job descriptions

Collaborate and work closely with staff, volunteers, agencies and partners.

Responsible for recruiting volunteers to assist with recruiting for events and committees

Develops, creates and manages volunteer schedules

Develops relationships between community groups and JHS

Engagement in community relations - sitting in on community committee meetings

Develop a volunteer needs assessment and recruitment strategy that can be executed bi-annually based on JHS anticipated activity and needs

Be the point of contact between volunteers and community groups where required

Exchange information with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality, accuracy and consistency

Supervision of University/College student placements where appropriate and required

Supports fundraising activity and efforts

**Qualifications**

Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Experience in the non-profit sector desired

Experience in Community Development desired

**Skills Required**:
Good organization skills with the ability to create and implement systems and follow through

Strong communication, strategic planning and project management skills

Computer skills and database management skills

Being able to prioritize and multi-task numerous ongoing projects

**Work Environment**

Work week includes 37.5 hours a week, with the ability to travel to community meetings and appointments

Working days may include weekends and evenings when community partners are present.

Ability to work a flexible schedule when representing JHS at information sessions

Collaborative working environment

**Anticipated start date June 1st, 2023**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks
