Reporting to the Expedite Manager, the **_Freight Sales and Operations Planner_** is a dynamic role that serves as the critical link between shippers and carriers, ensuring the smooth coordination and transportation of freight. This sales-oriented position not only involves negotiating rates but also demands a high level of customer service throughout the operational shipping process.

The **_Freight Sales and Operations Planner_** is proactive in seeking new freight opportunities with direct customers, leveraging both asset and freight brokerage, and is adept at working with various departments to address customer inquiries and resolve any shipment issues efficiently. In this role, you will be at the intersection of ensuring efficient movement of goods and maximizing revenue.

**Responsibilities**:

- Spearhead customer acquisition for asset and brokerage services, negotiating profitable agreements through strategic use of company assets and partner networks. Ensure quick and efficient response to rate and shipment inquiries, maintaining target profit margins.
- Manage CRM system to input key data, track leads, and provide transparency for informed decision-making across sales and operations teams.
- Optimize asset allocation and dispatch by leveraging relationships with direct customers and 3PLs to maximize efficiency and profit margins. Develop contingency plans, exploring external options and collaborating with internal teams to ensure timely shipment fulfillment and dedicated trucking commitments. Identify and seize new business opportunities.
- Oversee the full range of Transportation Management Systems, including rate quotations, order generation, shipment tracking, returns, financial transactions, proof of delivery, and invoice auditing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and clients, ensuring compliance with certifications and regulations. Proactively address service discrepancies and customer concerns to strengthen business relationships.

**Additional Responsibilities**:

- Carrier Management: Administer carrier partnerships, facilitate the onboarding of new carriers, and sustain a robust carrier portfolio.
- AP Responsibility: Collaborate with AP to resolve customer payment issues, ensuring successful outcomes through team coordination.
- Cross-Departmental Support: Aid various departments as needed, demonstrating versatility and team collaboration.
- Process Improvement: Identify and lead initiatives to streamline processes, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
- Team Development: Support the training and integration of new team members into the company culture and processes, and assist other departments as needed.
- Ad-Hoc Tasks: Undertake additional responsibilities and projects as delegated to support the broader organizational goals.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- 2+ years of direct sales experience (inside/outside)
- 2+ years in transportation operations
- Proficient in Dispatch Systems & TMS (Asset, Loadlink)
- Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management (preferred)
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards
- Experience in transportation or related sales is a plus
- Accountable with a focus on quality management
- Strategic thinker, sales-driven, and results-oriented
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Office and multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of accounting, P&L, AP/AR processes
