Research Assistant I Injury Prevention Research

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The Research Assistant will:

- Assist in CHIRPP data collection;
- Assist with data analysis of patients with brain injury or other neurological conditions;
- Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and progress reports;
- Collect, store and transfer study data in accordance with Health Canada and REB requirements;
- Assist other ongoing research projects in obtaining informed consent from and administering cognitive tests/questionnaires to study participants or conducting open ended interviews with study participants or analyzing interview transcripts and qualitative data;
- Supervise students and volunteers;
- Assist Investigator in the initiation of new research and grant writing;
- Perform literature searches; prepare summaries and systematic reviews;
- General office duties, e.g. filing, faxing, mailings, courier services, photocopying, etc.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Undergraduate Degree or 1 year of relevant experience OR demonstrable equivalent combination of specialized education and experience.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with background in biostatistics, epidemiology, data management, qualitative analysis, machine learning, or related discipline(s);
- One year of relevant research experience and in using R, SAS or other statistical software preferred;
- Experience in data and project management;
- Previous experience in protocol development, ethics proposals, grant and peer-reviewed manuscript writing, and making presentations to scientific and lay audiences is preferred;
- An aptitude for accuracy and detail. An aptitude and desire to teach and learn;
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to work flexible hours when needed
- Willingness to travel between study sites
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent attendance record.
