**Purpose**:
The Student Engagement Assistant role contributes to the success of Student Services and International Relations (SSIR) by supporting the alignment of shared services across the Student Services and International Relations department including the Recruitment & Admissions, Student and Enrolment Services, Financial Aid and International Relations units through assisting in the coordination of engagement initiatives, communications, and events. The role assists in the coordination of engagement events, supports in the implementation of internal and external communication strategies, and provides administrative support to support Divisional objectives.

**Education**:
College diploma in Marketing or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

**Experience**:
Two (2) years related community engagement, event planning, communications and marketing experience is required.

**Skills**:
Effective communication skills.
Efficient attention to detail, including accurate proofreading and cross-referencing skills.
Efficient organizational skills including the ability to set priorities, multi-task, and handle a variety of assignments.
Ability to effectively deal with competing demands and deadlines.
Ability to deal courteously, tactfully, and effectively with faculty, staff, and community members.
Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a member of a team.
Intermediate MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to maintain a relational database.
Ability to use event and project management software.
Ability to use online/web-based content management systems and social media sites such as Wordpress, Mailchimp, LinkedIn, Instagram.
