HR/health and Safety Generalist

Guelph, Canada ETSM Technical Services Ltd. Full time

ETSM Technical Services Ltd. has an immediate opening for a full time, permanent HR/Health and Safety Generalist.

We are a custom manufacturing facility in Guelph and have been family owned and operated since 1985.

**Responsibilities**:

- Recruit for all positions, new employee on-boarding, write and place advertisements
- Create offers of employment for new employees, facilitate all new hire paperwork
- Create job duty descriptions and assign wage ranges for each position
- Conduct exit interviews
- Organize, distribute and oversee annual performance evaluations
- Group benefits administration to include setting up new employees, reporting changes, long term disability claims and communicating benefit information to new and existing employees
- Process all timecards, attendance and payroll records and employee files for approx. 50 employees
- Payroll administration including payroll, reporting, payroll tax remittance, ROE’s, preparation of annual T4 information, EHT and WSIB remittances
- Manage injury reporting-first aid logs, WSIB claims and the return to work process
- Develop, implement and maintain HR and H&S policies, handbook and communications and provide necessary training
- Initiate any disciplinary write ups
- Organize all HR, H&S and job-related training
- Conduct necessary HR or H&S investigations and mediation of disputes
- Implement any disciplinary action
- Lead the H&S program, coordinate and facilitate meetings and conduct regular on-site inspections
- Compliance reporting such as annual environmental reporting and hazardous waste management
- Respond to employee requests and questions
- Other duties as required

**Specific Skills, Abilities or Aptitudes**:

- Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management/Health and Safety
- Minimum 3-5 years of HR/H&S experience in a manufacturing environment
- Uphold strict confidentiality expectations
- Have a passion for working with people and be able to communicate with respect and compassion
- Knowledge of employment law, H&S law and compliance requirements
- Must be able to multi-task priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
- A self-starter with good problem solving skills
- Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Advanced communication in English
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
