Join our team as our newest **HR Generalist/ Administrator**

**Job Summary**

Responsible for carrying out a wide range of duties in support of HR department. Maintains personnel files. Administers Group Insurance programs

**Your daily responsibilities will include**:

- Assist/support the Corporate Human Resources Manager in developing and implementing strategic HR goals in support for the Company.
- Recommend to the Corporate Human Resources Manager changes to the benefit plan designation and expense for effective administration of the plan and for benefit communication.
- Maintains HR Policy Guide - update revisions on a monthly basis.
- Orientation and sign up of new employees.
- Coordination of benefit enrolments for new employees directly with benefit carriers (on line administration) - Green Shield Canada (Health benefits), The Great-West Life Assurance Company (Life Insurance, A.D. &D., Spousal and Dependent Insurance and Long Term Disability), Manulife (Pension plan).
- Creates offer of employment for new hourly employees.
- Prepares letters of employment for hourly and salaried employees.
- Termination of hourly employees when requested.
- Distribute new employee packages (benefit booklets) upon completion of probationary period.
- Ensure carriers are informed of all employee changes i.e. termination/wage and salary increases, address, and family status etc.
- Respond to employee requests and questions.
- Initiates annual Mini Performance Reviews, 1 mth, 3 mth, 6 mth, 9 mth, 12 mth, 15 mth, 18 mth, 24 mth, 30 mth, 36, mth, 42 mth, and 48 mth evaluations for hourly and skilled trade employees. Initiates salaried performance reviews at 6 months and then annually thereafter. Tracking of hourly performance and salaried reviews.
- Prepares paperwork for hourly wage increases.
- Manage HR’s database payroll, change notices, attendance tracking.
- Generate confidential management reports - Labour Report and Measureables (Power Point presentation), Discipline and Retention report on a monthly basis.
- Update Job Description book (Salaried and Hourly) as required.
- Generate updated telephone lists to plant managers.
- Complete paperwork for employee loans.
- Place employment ads on GMG website, Service Canada, local and rural newspapers and community colleges as required.
- Set up appointments with the Company Doctor for injured employees in the absence of the Health and Safety Coordinator.
- Follow up with employees who are off sick - ensure that Doctor's notes are in place, communicate with supervisor regarding absence. Initiate Long Term Disability paperwork at two months if employee states that a return to work date is undetermined.
- Prepare announcements for new salaried employees.
- Prepare and follow up of job postings.
- Maintain new employee requisitions.
- Prepare statutory holiday notices.
- Manage consignment ticket programs.

**What are we looking for?**
- Appropriate combination of formal education and experience. A degree or diploma in Human Resources Management.
- A minimum of 10 yrs. experience in an H.R. role.
- Familiar with H.R.I.S. systems, experience with recruiting, training, benefit administration, compensation and Health and Safety.
- Advanced level computer skills - primarily Excel and Windows environment. Experience with Power Point an asset.
- Knowledge of Employment Law & Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- Capable of multi-tasking and working with limited timelines on occasion.
