**Position Description**:
SWCHC is looking for a dynamic and flexible individual to work a hybrid position combined with the responsibilities of both a Harm Reduction Worker and a Client Engagement worker, to work within our Harm Reduction Team to support the Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) & Safer Supply Program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to, scheduling clients, appointment registration, referrals, answering phones, maintaining medical files, requesting ROIs from other OAT clinics, support with urine sample collection, communicating with other sectors involved in client care (ex. justice system, health care systems).

This position will also include supporting the overall client engagement of the clinic space such as managing client flow, de-escalating potentially aggressive situations, overdose response and support, for clients of the clinic and may also include support for clients of the clinic including case management, outreach support and accompaniments.

It is imperative that the person selected for this position is both familiar and comfortable working with individuals who are actively using substances and may be in various states of intoxication, overdose or withdrawal and has knowledge and/or experience with OAT/SS programs. This position also requires the ability to work independently with many competing demands in a fast-paced environment, with a recognition of when to bring concerns to leadership and other team members.

**Position Requirements**:

- Medical office assistant diploma (or equivalent knowledge, skills & experience)
- Degree in social work, or equivalent behavioural sciences education
- Commitment to working from a health equity and anti-oppressive lens
- Lived/living experience of drug use and/or experience in advocacy for persons who use drugs considered an asset
- Excellent knowledge and experience regarding harm reduction approaches
- Good understanding of health promotion, HIV and HCV transmission
- Experience with case management, outreach and care coordination
- Experience using electronic health records or case management systems
- Experience with clinical documentation
- Certification in GAIN Staged Screening & Assessment tool an asset
- Experience working within Medical Directives an asset
- Experience and knowledge in working with regulated health professionals an asset
- Certification in oxygen therapy and airway management an asset
- Trainings in the treatment of substance use disorder an asset

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Knowledge of best and emerging practices for Opioid Agonist Treatment and Safer Supply
- Strong ability for assessment & response of situations of risk to self or others
- Understanding and commitment to working from a Trauma Informed lens with a passion for working with clients who are considered high risk and who have not responded to traditional addiction/mental health interventions
- Superior understanding of privacy, consent and relevant legislation
- Ability to work independently, set priorities and manage time effectively
- Strong clinical assessment skills
- Demonstrated ability and clinical expertise working with clients in crisis
- Experienced in non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Capable in supporting clients with concurrent mental health distress presentations including psychosis, trauma, aggressive behavior and emotional dysregulation
- Knowledge of harm reduction approach and service delivery
- Sound organizational, critical thinking
- Superior communication, delegation and conflict resolution skills
- Valid CPR and First Aid
- Successful completion of police record check for vulnerable populations
