Homes by Avi Group of Companies is seeking an experienced, innovative and highly detail-oriented individual to join our team as a **Controller**. Homes by Avi has been building family homes since 1978, with home building divisions in Calgary, Edmonton, and Austin, Texas.
**Controller**
You will work directly under the leadership of the CFO to develop and support the accounting team. The Controller will be responsible for providing mentorship to the finance team, overseeing the financial reporting function, cash flow and budgeting.

You are an expert in providing timely, accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders, cash flow management, budgeting and analysis.

You have strong interpersonal skills and are an effective, articulate communicator in both your written and verbal communications.
**What You Will Do**:
- Oversee and manage the financial reporting function to ensure that all internal and external reporting is delivered complete, accurate and on time
- Lead a team of accountants responsible for month-end and year-end activities and reporting
- Develop and maintain internal controls, policies and procedures
- Liaise with external auditors to ensure that the interim and annual audit requirements are met
- Oversee the preparation of annual divisional budgets
- Preparation of monthly and annual forecasting and variance analysis
- Gross margin analysis and reporting
- Preparation of internal cash flow projections and planning
- Support the Chief Financial Officer in projects and reporting
- Work closely with staff and management to build strong relationships to optimize productivity and manage priorities
- Provide insights into financial performance and trends to support strategic decision-making.
- Work closely with operational departments to ensure financial reporting meets needs of users
**Your Qualifications - The Must Have’s**
- CPA Designation is required
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience with 3-5 years in a similar role
- Strong leadership skills with an ability to develop, mentor and complete performance evaluations for their team
- Effective written and verbal communication skills

- Experience with Great Plains Dynamics
- Experience leading system changes and implementations
- Experience filing tax returns and tax related transactions
- Experience with condominium property management and general contractor work
