The Centre of Metallurgical Processing and Sustainability (COMPAS) aims to foster innovation, knowledge creation, and development of highly skilled personnel for the metallurgical industry in North America and globally. Research of common interest to the partners is at the core of the Centre’s activities, through which researchers, principal investigators, and industry & government partners are engaged.

The Centre Administrator reports to the Director of the newly created Centre of Metallurgical Processing and Sustainability (COMPAS), and provides comprehensive support for COMPAS’ operations in the areas of research, education, and industry engagement. Responsibilities include developing and establishing administrative and financial processes and procedures at the Centre to correspond to departmental and university standards while being responsible for administering research grants, preparing grant progress reports, financial administration and for providing office support. The Centre Administrator coordinates and manages documentation for all grants and contracts, coordinates submission of research proposals, liaises with researchers, universities, partners and funding agencies such as NSERC to exchange information. The incumbent carries out financial duties such as the preparation of budgets, expenditures, and the preparation of reports. The Centre Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the centre and creates documents including minutes, coordinates meetings, screens incoming communication, and responds to inquiries. The incumbent will work effectively with a wide-range of researchers, administrators, and committees in supporting the Centre’s mandate and vision in a timely and professional manner. The incumbent liaises with internal staff and faculty at University of Toronto and with external contacts at consortium partners, industrial companies and at government funding agencies.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Promoting and advancing institute interests to industry representatives and government officials
- Researching, analyzing and recommending grant opportunities
- Ensuring contracts and agreements prepared by others are consistent with University policy and standards
- Liaising with internal and external contacts to coordinate execution of seminars, workshops, internships, etc.
- Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, science, business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years related experience with a focus on mining and metallurgy.
- Demonstrated experience with grant and/or contract writing.
- Excellent computer skills, including Excel (including creating and manipulating spreadsheets, working with formulas), Word (including word-processing and preparation of documents of varying complexity), Outlook, and databases for retrieving and organizing data and information.
- Demonstrated experience collating and organizing data for reports, as well as identifying and resolving data anomalies and discrepancies.
- Experience coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow up items, and resolving scheduling conflicts.
- Demonstrated experience fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, show initiative and exercise diplomacy and good judgment.
