**Education Assistant**
Zagimē Anishinabēk is a progressive First Nations government, located around 22 KM Northeast of Grenfell Town in Saskatchewan. Zagimē Anishinabēk Goose Lake School serves the educational needs of less than 80 students from Prekindergarten to Grade 6 in split-grade classrooms.
**SUMMARY**:Under the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher and under the general supervision of the Principal, the Education Assistant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day activities of the classrooms and school which includes working with students.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Preparing teaching materials as per teacher direction.
- Conduct remedial work with students as instructed.
- Assist with school nutrition programs.
- Assist in organizing school functions.
- Supervise playground activities as determined by the principal.
- Assist with blackboard, bulletin board, and classroom decorations.
- Assist at parent and staff meetings.
- Assist in maintaining a tidy classroom.
- Assist individual students as determined by the special education teacher and classroom teacher.
- Take charge of the class during the absence of the teacher occasionally.
- Participate with the school’s extra-curricular activities.
- Active participant in classroom management but ensure discipline is respectful and follow teacher’s procedures.
- Shall assume any other duties as may be assigned by the teacher or Principal.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Education Assistant Certificate or a combination of education and experience in education or a similar field.
- First Aid / CPR Certification.
- Passion and ability to work with children.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent written, oral, and organizational skills.
- Patient, helpful, sensitive, and pleasant manner.
- Knowledge of First Nation culture and traditions.
- Submit a criminal record check with the vulnerable sector, and a pre-employment drug test prior to commencement of employment.
