**Purpose of Job**:
The Manager, Portfolio Oversight Reporting Management works with credit risk departments across International banking to analyze and report on the performance of new and existing portfolios by ensuring that business strategies, plans and initiatives are delivered and executed in accordance with Scotiabank’s Risk Appetite and policies framework, governing regulations, guidelines, procedures and best practices across the industry.
Through effective governance and oversight, the role is designed for the assessment of the general strategy, initiatives, policies and processes; exercising good stewardship to maximize risk/return relationship and protect/build shareholder value. Understanding of traditional retail mass market, as well as consumer, small business and microfinance segments is an asset, to properly identify key success metrics and formulate effective risk management strategies.
The individual is responsible for the coordination and implementation of IB’s best risk management practices across the countries.
**Responsibilities**:
**1. Relationships & Communications**
- Develop a strong partnership with retail risk teams across all countries, to manage communication and interaction within GRM and areas in involved in credit decision strategies and portfolio monitoring (Risk Technology, Collections & Fraud, Portfolio Analytics, and Provisions). Ensure alignment to GRM Retail strategy, risk appetite and global standards.
- Communicate risks, successes, challenges, concerns, opportunities to Portfolio Oversight Reporting Management Director, and prepare updates for Executive, government regulators, and other stakeholders. Provide forward looking analysis and prescriptive recommendations for all retail and small business portfolios.
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including senior leaders in the countries to support the achievement of deliverables and overall objectives and key areas such as risk technology and analytics.
- Provide support to motivate individual and team performance, meet objectives, and support team development through sharing of knowledge/experience.
2. **Governance & Oversight**
- Effective monitoring, analysis and report to Executive, and other stakeholders on country performance trends and results in relation to targets. Consider origination trends and portfolio issues by product, channel, segment, and specific programs as developed from time to time. Overlay the impact of any political, economic/ environmental, and social concerns affecting the business.
- Performs business analysis to respond to regulatory and business questions and provide portfolio insights.
- Utilize and optimize local information, and MIS to gain understanding of BNS results and benchmark against limits where appropriate. Develop key performance indicators and early warnings across the life cycle to promptly identify emerging trends that can impact portfolio performance.
- Reporting and active monitoring of CRP processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting of portfolio performance.
- Drive effective risk stewardship and acceptable risk-return opportunities by communicating risk appetite and strategic objectives, using policies, process and technology that can be leveraged across the organization to maximize profit, in consideration of the risk appetite of the Bank and country.
- Collaborate with Collection teams to ensure collection policies/strategies/procedures/systems are designed to minimize delinquency and loan losses for retail portfolios.
**3. Regulatory compliance, Policy & Procedure Controls**
- Ensure timely action is taken to effectively manage and mitigate risks. Including prompt escalation of breaches of management limits or risk appetite measures as per established processes.
- Collaborate with Collection teams to ensure collection policies/strategies/procedures/systems are designed to minimize delinquency and loan losses for retail portfolios.
- Performs data analysis to monitor and track data quality and completeness of data.
**4. Credit Risk Initiatives**
- Provide Advice and Counsel on initiatives and portfolio management strategies by ensuring consistency in methodologies across sites and alignment to Risk Appetite Framework and Global Risk Policies.
- Influence business strategies where the risks are assessed as high and help to develop mitigating strategies.
**Job Requirements**:
The incumbent must have a detailed understanding of SAS/SQL processes with strong BI Tools skillset (Power BI preferred) and must be highly analytical and results-oriented.
