Damage Prevention Technician

**JOB OVERVIEW**
Reporting to the Edmonton Operations Manager, the Damage Prevention Technician/Locator Lead is responsible for completing buried facility locates (i.e. electrical cables, water lines, sewer lines, steam lines, gas lines, telephone lines and more), documenting and mapping buried facility locations with accuracy and precision, while adhering to strict company and client safety protocols, and procedures.
**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- 3-5 years of experience in underground line/facility locating
- Utility Advanced Line Locating Certification (PAL, CAPULC, or equivalent) an asset
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License (with a clean 5-year abstract)
- Ability to read and understand maps and drawings
- Experience operating a variety of underground locating equipment (EM/RF Locators) used to assist in the locating and verifying of underground utilities
- Knowledge of Trimble GPS and Total Station Equipment an asset
- CSTS, OSSA/BSO, First Aid and H2S Alive Safety Certification
- Ground Disturbance Training
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
- Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy and care with a priority on safety
- Ability to handle stressful situations with composure
- Strong work ethic and proven reliability
- Ability to work independently and with mínimal supervision
- Proven ability to learn, take direction and accept coaching feedback
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Actively participate in corporate HSE Program
- Actively participate in client HSE Programs ensuring requirements are understood and met
- Leading by example, ensuring all corporate safety program elements are implemented
- Conduct utility locates as required
- Review data regarding excavation locations, construction prints and plans
- Mark and/or flag utility locations accurately and according to company and client specifications
- Keep accurate notes and prepare various reports and documentation verifying marked utilities
**WORK CONDITIONS**
This role will be located in Edmonton, Alberta, and is a full-time, permanent position. The schedule will be Monday to Friday with the odd weekend requirement. The position works in the field year-round, and therefore it requires an individual who is comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, and who is physically fit.

Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
