At First General Edmonton, we provide emergency mitigation services for damage caused by water, sewer back-ups, fire, smoke damage, wind damage, vehicle impacts, catastrophic storm response, bio/trauma clean-up, asbestos remediation, and full construction services.

We are in search of a Contents Technician to join our dynamic team. This role plays a crucial role in the safe and efficient recovery of personal belongings and household items following a catastrophe. This position is responsible for contents handling including cleaning, documenting and restoring insurance claims.

This role requires a combination of physical strength, organizational skills, and excellent customer service. This position works closely and reports to the Lead Mitigation Technician and Contents Manager. This Technician must be organized and driven to complete projects to help clients return to their home.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
Content Recovery
- Safely remove, pack, and transport damaged personal belongings and household items from disaster-affected sites.
- Use Encircle to document and take pictures of contents at job sites. Report any damage of contents.
- Clean and restore items using specialized cleaning techniques and equipment.
- Inventory and catalog recovered items to ensure accurate tracking and return.

Site Cleaning & Restoration
- Assist in securing sites to prevent further damage.
- Remove debris and hazardous materials.
- Prepare areas for content recovery operations.
- Final cleaning of properties such as washing walls, fixtures, floors, cupboards, etc.

Customer Service
- Interact with property owners and insurance adjusters in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Provide updates on the status of recovered items.
- Handle customer inquiries and concerns effectively.

Equipment Maintenance
- Ensure proper maintenance and operation of recovery equipment, including cleaning machines, drying equipment, and transportation vehicles.

Safety Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including wearing appropriate protective gear.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately.

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in the restoration industry is preferred
- Knowledge of IICRC standards and certifications in water or fire restoration an asset
- Standard First Aid and WHMIS Training
- Willingness to travel between sites in the Edmonton and surrounding areas

**Skills**:

- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in physically demanding environments, and stand for extended periods.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and inventory management.
- Customer Service: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and adapt to changing situations.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to tasks, ensuring accurate inventory and recovery.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.

**Work Type**: Full Time, Permanent, Field

**Schedule**: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Afterhours on-call rotation every 5 to 6 weeks for one week, 24/7

**Travel**: Primarily in Edmonton and area, sometimes out of town day trips

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
