**DK Excavating is a growing excavation and septic specialist servicing the Erin, Headwaters and Wellington counties since 2014. We are a young and energetic company looking to hire two new team members to join in the upcoming season. Our clients are typically repeat residential customers and commercial builders with whom we have developed a strong relationship with. The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment. As the applicant, you are proficient in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment, including, Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, Rollers, Skid Steers and other pieces of equipment. Applicants must be able to operate equipment in tight spaces (residential) as well as large scale new construction projects. Project scope includes but is not limited to driveway installation and repair, septic installation and repair, new home construction, final grading and drainage, concrete pad preparation and other various residential and commercial projects.

DK Excavating operates in a team environment and all team members, including the owner, participate in all aspects of the job site. The applicant will be required to occasionally provide labor services that include but are not limited to laying septic pipe, shovelling, raking, wheel barrows and miscellaneous duties to get the job comple

**Key Responsibilities**:
The responsibilities of the Equipment Operator include, but are not limited to:
**Equipment Operation**
- Capable of operating multiple pieces of construction equipment used in underground construction, base preparation and construction, and grading.
- Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Capable of loading aggregate material into dump trucks.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill the equipment as necessary.
- Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.
- Operate equipment on public roadways, maintaining proper awareness of ones surroundings.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment.
- Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment.
- Other construction related duties as required.
- Off season: competently operate snow removal equipment

**Qualifications**

**Education, Training and Certifications**
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- AZ/DZ license considered an asset but not required
- Minimum valid G license with clean drivers abstract
- Must have own transportation

**Work Experience**
- 2 to 3 years’ experience operating a diverse range of construction equipment is required.
- Intermediate level experience in final grade and site preparation required

**Technical Knowledge**
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation.
- Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
- Knowledge of aggregates and construction materials

Position is full time (50+ hours per week in peak season) with opportunity for full winter employment providing the applicant has proficient skills for business needs.
