Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance this position will operate and maintain large commercial vehicles such as radial boom derrick truck (RBD), Single / Tandem axle truck trailer combinations, picker / knuckle boom trucks used in the construction and maintenance of power lines and other related facilities. Equipment includes; off road RBD/Nodwell (tracked vehicle), rubber tired / tracked excavators various trenching equipment and skidsteer units.

**What You Get to Do**:

- Transport vehicles and equipment to and from job sites;
- Operate vehicles and equipment on jobsites in support of construction of power line projects;
- Accurate and timely recordkeeping of logbooks for equipment and vehicles operated;
- Accurate and timely upkeep of equipment / field maintenance requirements.
- Load, haul and unload material, poles and electrical apparatus (transformers, regulators, etc.) required for power line construction and maintenance;
- Assist crews in construction of overhead and underground electrical facilities and provide support in the training and development of Apprentice Powerline Technicians.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED);
- A valid Alberta Vehicle Operator’s License and clean drivers abstract; Class 1 considered an asset.
- A valid First Aid Certificate, WHMIS and TDG.
- 0 - 2 years of related experience
- A proven record of safe working skills regarding vehicle and equipment operation.
- Experience operating large commercial vehicles; truck/trailer combinations.
- Vehicle and equipment maintenance experience and/or mechanical aptitude.
- Strong interpersonal, team participation and communication skills.
- Previous training and experience in logbook completion and load securement.
- Radial Boom Derek (RBD) training an asset.
- Previous experience operating a track hoe an asset.
- Previous experience operating excavation equipment (ie: backhoe, trencher, etc.)
- Familiar with NSC as pertaining to operation of commercial vehicles.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of electricity or previous experience working in the utility industry.
- Previous experience and demonstrated ability working in cross-cultural environments an asset.
- Willingness and a record of participation in community activities an asset.
- This position requires travel within the region.
