**About the role**

We’re looking for a Legal Claims Assistant I to join our growing team

**What you’ll do here**:

- Setting up new files in our online system, drafting correspondence, court documents, briefing files and ultimately closing files.
- Scheduling examination tor discovery, examinations under oath, mediations, meetings and various hearings at court.
- Maintaining Legal Counsel's calendar, supervising their practice and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Word processing, electronic filing and general office duties.
- Accomplishing your key responsibilities.
- Provide administrative support such as scheduling meetings, photocopying, drafting correspondence, preparing pleadings, creating and updating trial binders, etc.
- Implement an effective diary system to help manage the lawyer's practice.
- Partners with assigned lawyers in managing workflow, monitoring calendars and meeting various deadlines.
- Support clients to schedule appointments; exchange and obtain information and communicate case progress.
- Review and manage documents with software programs.

**What you bring to the table**:

- College diploma and/or university degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or a Legal Assistant Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
- At least three years of experience working as a legal assistant/ in the legal industry, preferably within an insurance defence or personal injury law firm with a solid background in litigation.
- Working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Strong document management skills with the ability to learn and utilize Intact's various software programs, including iManage. Citrix, ACL and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail and sound proofreading skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize.
- Effective customer service skills.
- Excellent communication, listening, organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills and an ability to work within a team dynamic.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and take initiative.
- Demonstrate a disciplined approach to work.
- Intermediate knowledge levels of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
