About the role


As the
Director of Legal Claims Support, you will be one of the key members of the West, Atlantic and Quebec Legal Claims management team.

You will be the Director responsible for managing the administrative operations of the Legal Claims Support department (Clerks, Law Clerks and Administrative Support teams) in the West (AB and BC).

You will lead a team of managers having the oversight of all support groups and will report to the Vice President, Legal Claims, for West, Atlantic and Quebec.

While this role may be primarily based out of our Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver office locations, there will be periodic travel to all of our three West offices.

What you'll do here:

  • Be a strong voice for the support team in the West.
  • Contribute to the establishment of objectives included in the business plan and implement approaches to achieve regional Legal Claims goals in line with business strategies and the organization's financial, material and human resources.
  • Ensure a high level of employee engagement by continually monitoring overall engagement and creating and executing engagement action plans.
  • Ensure efficient and effective work processes, quality service, effective indemnity and legal expense control.
  • Establish and refine best practices workflows and ensure consistency across all Ontario offices
  • Assess and address workforce planning needs to maintain service levels and productivity benchmarks.
  • Responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and managing key performance indicators relating to productivity.
  • Build a collaborative approach and savvy business strategy that is aligned with Intact's priorities and promotes great relationships within Claims and Legal Claims.
  • Focus on achieving KPI objectives.
  • Oversee and audit internal litigation activities and align with best practices and professional standards.
  • Build a plan to identify trends in the legal environment.
  • Communicate national policies and procedures to the legal team.

What you bring to the table:

  • A university degree or equivalent education combined with relevant work experience.
  • 5 or more years of management experience, preferably in a Litigation or Senior Claims Management position.
