**Purpose of Position**

The Indigenous Youth Reintegration Coordinator takes a hands-on approach in the development and implementation of a culturally appropriate reintegration program for urban Indigenous youth (ages 12-17) and engages in other youth related programming with other members of the youth team.

**Some of the responsibilities of this position are**:

- Work with youth and probation officers to create action plans to achieve probation goals;
- Create and implement culturally appropriate youth programming for post-charge Indigenous youth, including but not limited to: weekly after school programs, youth camps, advocacy and referrals, individual and group counselling and life skills development;
- Recruit new clients for the program through outreach activities, relationship building, partnership creation, etc. with external partners such as Probation Officers, courts and agencies;
- Attend case management plan meetings and/or plan of care meetings with stakeholders;
- Attend meetings within the city relevant to the program as directed by the supervisor, including meetings outside of regular work hours;
- Research best practices in culturally relevant youth reintegration programs;
- Work collaboratively with the youth programs team to ensure smooth program delivery to all clients;
- Plan, organize and implement community education and outreach sessions;
- Support individual program participants with healing goals, which includes taking an active role in leading program components;
- Organize community service for youth and provider supervision;
- Support and participate in overnight camping trips for youth, regularly occurring twice per year;
- Work collaboratively with all staff to create and support Wabano events such as the Annual General Meeting, Gala, and community celebrations;
- Enter client information and all interactions into electronic medical records system and provide regular updates and reports;
- Accept responsibility for ensuring program objectives are met in a manner consistent with the quality of service and care at Wabano.

***Qualifications**:

- Post secondary completion in Human Services, Youth Justice or other applicable program of study;
- Three years of experience in Indigenous youth work;
- Experience assisting Indigenous youth in conflict with the law;
- Evidence of a strong client focus, sound knowledge and understanding of issues impacting Indigenous youth;
- Experience in program planning, event organization, and youth success plans;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Clear criminal reference check to work with vulnerable population is required.
