**Pension Analyst**:
**PRIMARY PURPOSE**: To provide internal and external stakeholders with essential analytical and administration support within the pension functions in the Pension and Benefits department.

**NATURE OF WORK**: Reporting to the Manager, Pension and Benefits, this position plays an integral role in the governance and administration of the pension plans at the University. This position requires a high level of analytical and critical thinking for dealing with complex pension issues in a high volume environment. A firm understanding of defined benefit and defined contribution pension plan administration and governance is required. This position performs a variety of duties to support pension administration and strategic functions and requires well developed organization and project management skills.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Ensures reliability and accuracy of pension administration system.
- Assists with coordination, documentation and implementation of ongoing project plans related to pensions.
- Assists in monitoring and reviewing policies and practices to ensure governance expectations and compliance issues are being met.
- Ensures stakeholders including Manager, Pension and Benefits, university departments, members of the pension plans and external consultants receive timely, accurate reporting to support development decisions
- Performs and/or reviews pension plan calculations and ensures accurate information is being provided to plan members.
- Communicates and provides one-on-one support to pension plan members to ensure plan member needs are being met.
- Communicates and liaises with related external parties including trustees, record keepers, actuaries and consultants to ensure needs of pension plan stakeholders are being met.
- Understands pension legislation to ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation
- Understands the pension administration environment, including defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education and Experience**: An undergraduate degree in commerce or business administration with a preference of 3 years of experience with pension plan administration, preferably in a large, diverse, dynamic collaborative environment. Knowledge of defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans and applicable pension legislation is considered an asset.
