**LOCATION: Guelph ON 230 Hanlon Creek**

**SUMMARY**:
**The Controller, reporting into the Senior VP, Finance, is responsible for providing leadership and coordination of company financial reporting and **direction and coordination the preparation of annual operating and capital budget**. This position is also responsible for ensuring that company procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.** **The Controller streamlines processes to create reliable and timely delivery of accounting information and will play an active role in the strategic planning for the business.**:** HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- ** Manage and monitor the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reporting.**:

- ** Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with US established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.**:

- ** Compile and analyze monthly statements and management reports.**:

- ** Direct and coordinate the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets**:

- ** Develop and lead initiatives to identify operating costs, variances and develop performance and variance analyses and work with the various departments to improve and control current processes.**:

- ** Provide oversight and support to individual branches by understanding the administration requirements of those locations.**:

- ** Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results for each location.**:

- ** Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.**:

- ** Provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting.**:

- ** Coordinate the year-end audit and preparation of related working papers.**:

- ** Support new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective.**:

- ** Assign and authorize cheques, purchase orders and invoices.**:

- ** Integrate new acquired divisions into company accounting platform.**:

- ** Prepare purchase price allocations for all new acquisitions.**:

- ** Support potential acquisitions during due diligence process.**:

- ** Other related duties and required or assigned.**:
**WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED**:
**Education**
- University degree in Business/Accounting, with advanced degree.
- Professional accounting designation (such as CA, CPA, CGA, CMA, CMT) required.

**Experience**
- 5 years of professional accounting experience.

**Skills & Abilities**
- Strong knowledge of relevant Canadian and US Federal and local requirements regarding financial records, sales, and local tax.
- Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong experience with audits performed by external audit firms.
- Strong skills in financial analysis, and budgeting.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward the work at hand.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
