**Job Title**: Print and Mail Clerk
Two openings available
**Shift 1**: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
**Shift 2**: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm

**Overview**:
As a Print and Mail Clerk, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the printing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials and distribution of printed items for mailing. Your role will involve understanding job specifications, setting up printing machinery, monitoring the printing process, and ensuring the final output meets quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, technical proficiency in operating the equipment, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. In this role you will work with highly sensitive and confidential materials such as cheques and private information.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Equipment Setup and Operation:

- Prepare printing equipment for operation by loading paper, adjusting settings, and calibrating machinery according to job specifications.
- Monitor printing processes to ensure proper ink distribution, color accuracy, and overall print quality.
- Operate and maintain mail insert/fold equipment to prepare printed items to be delivered through postal services.
- Quality Control:

- Conduct regular quality checks throughout the printing process to detect any defects or inconsistencies.
- Adjust printing parameters as needed to maintain high-quality output.
- Inspect final printed materials to ensure they meet client requirements and quality standards.
- Many items being printed may be required to be mailed or shipped out. Accuracy and control protocols must be adhered to ensure high level of accuracy of outgoing shipments, including batching and balancing counts against expected volumes.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

- Perform routine maintenance tasks on printing equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
- Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during the printing process, such as paper jams or equipment malfunctions, and resolve them efficiently.
- Coordinate with maintenance technicians for repairs or more complex technical issues.
- Job Coordination:

- Communicate with colleagues and supervisors to prioritize printing jobs and meet production deadlines.
- Coordinate with prepress technicians to ensure accurate transfer of design files and job specifications.
- Maintain records of printing jobs, including job details, materials used, and production times.
- Assist in the continued development of Production Department procedures.
- Ensure that production work in the area is conducted in a way that utilizes the right materials to produce a high-quality result.
- Have a sense of urgency and respect for customer orders along with a desire to meet requested turnaround times.
- Safety and Compliance:

- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Follow proper handling procedures for printing materials and chemicals to minimize health risks and environmental impact.
- Adherence to strict security and confidentiality protocols including handling procedures as well as physical site security.

**Skills and Experience**:

- Solid understanding of the operation of various print engines
- A good understanding of color theory and the ability to edit colors within a digital environment to ensure color accuracy is maintained throughout the production process.
- Must have strong Working knowledge of a variety of production digital printing equipment
- Must possess solid organizational skills. Must be able to effectively multi-task and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Must be flexible to accept various assignments within print production (e.g., running different jobs/equipment, learning to utilize new equipment, helping in other departments etc.).
- Must have knowledge of print production color theory and be able to effectively calibrate digital production printers to adjust match printed output to client requirements, approved samples, and/or pantone colors.
- A solid understanding of computers and office equipment is a requirement.
