**Job Summary**
The Manager Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Application Programming Interface (API) Channel Management is responsible for leading, supporting, and growing digital interfaces and channel usage and adoption with CN customers. The role translates business requirements into formal roadmaps and works closely with the Business and Information and Technology (I&T) stakeholders to operationalize these roadmaps for the development and evolution of EDI and API channels for customers. Moreover, the incumbent supports the development of customer notification channels and full life-cycle of the portfolio and as such seeks regular customer feedback to understand and improve customer satisfaction. Moreover, the role ensures the portfolio of API and EDI services and related new developments and enhancements meet business needs based on market trends and results in growth of API and EDI digital channels with the customers to improve stickiness and bring efficiencies for CN.
**Main Responsibilities**
Business Partnering - 40%
Create trusted relationships between Business and I&T organization, ensuring that there is a clear communication channel and that product expectations are aligned
Translate business and operation needs into solutions through a formal product roadmap
Work with Business to collect and develop a pipeline of product opportunities and innovative ideas
Build business cases (e.g., objective, strategic alignment, benefits, high-level implementation plan, financial analysis, and risks) and promote Business sponsorship
Support the annual budget planning exercise led by Finance
Support moves to Cloud for API for increased customer reliability
Provide business leaders with insight into innovative technologies that can disrupt or enhance business models and capabilities
Work with Business to capture, translate and enrich business requirements for new and existing products and related services
Measure and deliver on key metrics such as revenue covered by API, number of partners consuming API, monthly EDI implementation and satisfaction and scores, customer notification subscription and consumption
Develop an action plan, based on satisfaction results, to address issues and escalate to leadership
Evolving Channel Management Discipline - 40%
Support API and EDI channels to ensure optimal response times and latency on external user consumption
Ensure growth of API portfolio and usage, and EDI through business development
Prioritize customer notification events and channel development activities to ensure alignment to both the business and technology strategies
Support prioritizing new products and related projects and programs
Facilitate the definition and tracking of key metrics related to the product (e.g., performance, financials)
Collaborate and coordinate with other Product Managers and stakeholders to avoid duplication and manage dependencies
Participate in industry and railroads committees to align product evolution and drive CN’s agenda
Engage with vendors to understand and influence their product evolution based on CN’s strategic needs
Ensure that delivery teams deliver product features and requirements as per release scope
People Management - 20%
Partner with Human Resources (HR) to bring new talent to the organization by determining which skills and roles will be required in the future and making thoughtful hiring decisions
Provide a positive onboarding experience to all new employees by ensuring they have access to the tools and resources needed to fulfill the requirements of their job
Recognize employee milestones (e.g., service awards, retirements) as well as significant contributions and enhanced responsibilities
Focus on communications and foster collaboration by regularly providing updates to teams about ongoing initiatives and encouraging teams to work together to accomplish common goals and learning
Manage employee performance by ensuring employees who are not meeting expectations are identified and supported through the performance improvement process
Participate in succession planning by contributing to the yearly talent review cycle and identifying employees with the potential to move up the management and expertise paths
