The Opportunity:
We are currently looking for **two Forestry Co-op Students** to join our **Forestry team for the summer term. **Reporting to the Senior Forester, the Forestry Co-op Student is accountable for monitoring and supporting of the implementation of the Transmission Vegetation Management Program throughout Nova Scotia.

This is a field position requiring a flexible work schedule, travel, and weekend work. The term is expected to start **May 6, 2024**, and continue to early September.

Key elements of this role include:
The responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

- foliar monitoring of contractors.
- herbicide notifications at field sites.
- data collection in remote work sites using GPS.
- quality checks of field sites.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:

- You are a forestry undergraduate or technical program student who is interested in vegetation management and/ or silviculture.
- You must hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License with a minimum of 2 years driving experience and provide a driver’s abstract satisfactory to NSPI.
- You will have excellent interpersonal and listening skills and the ability to express yourself clearly and confidently.
- You must be able to work with customers in difficult situations and work under pressure while still maintaining a high standard of customer service.
- You will be able to work with minimum supervision, display excellent knowledge of company rules and regulations, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, and work in a safe and efficient manner.
- You are required to have a good working knowledge of GIS and ESRI mobile products.
- You must present yourself in a professional manner with appropriate attire and be able to meet the physical challenges of the position.

The following skills/ qualifications would be considered an asset:

- NS Herbicide Applicator License.
- Experience using ESRI Field Maps.
- Safety minded.
