The Opportunity

We are hiring an ambitious and forward-thinking head of health, safety and wellness to join our established and growing team in Canada.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

- Being the full leader of the health and safety operational delivery function within the MCS program team.
- Being accountable for monitoring compliance and agreeing the health, safety and wellness policy.
- Building and supervising high performing teams - create the environment for successful implementation of processes.
- Contributing to the establishment of a behavioral charter and capability to drive the agreed behavioral values through the program team.
- Creating and delivering persuasive and engaging presentations to wide range of audiences in our industry
- Delivering timely feedback to ensure a cohesive operational unit and the optimum use of team skills.
- Determining corrective action within projects and collaborating with the supply chain and project leaders and ensuring that corrective actions are carried out.
- Developing and implementing action plans to address performance gaps.
- Developing, reporting and analyzing agreed KPI’s to ensure proactive steps are taken to address emerging trends.
- Directing and integrating the various functional elements of the operational health and safety function.
- Enabling the assessment, management and mitigation of risk in accordance with regulation and best practice
- Enhancing and improving the MCS and client’s health, safety and wellness record.
- Ensuring cost effective and efficient performance of all health, safety and wellness operational delivery activity within the supply chain.
- Working effectively with the client’s leadership team to meet the MCS business and client requirements.
- Ensuring the purpose of the health, safety and wellness team to make sure “Lead, Inspire & enable” is achieved.
- Establishing and maintaining schedule of inspections across the program, ensuring compliance with the program level health, safety and environmental inspections.
- Mentoring and coaching at all levels within the Delivery Partnership Team
- Monitoring work assignments for adherence to timelines and compliance with policies and processes.
- Networking externally.
- Promoting recording of close calls and good practice across the program and share best practice across the organization and industry.
- Providing an effective service across the client’s program.
- Collaborating with the supply chain partners to ensure a consistency of approach and standards.
- Providing senior leadership and direction over an integrated team, oversight and indirect supervision of staff in a matrix environment.
- Providing senior leadership in the area of program and deliver partner management to program management leads.
- Setting up effective project control systems and procedures and integrating with the program control center and digital capture of data and performance data for central reporting purposes.
- Supporting the head of assurance in accident investigation and audit reporting.
- Working collaboratively within the assurance function and across the IPDT in promoting health, safety and wellness and the pursuit of continuous improvement.

About You

You have strong experience across all technical delivery requirements across program and project level set up and delivery requirements. You have a degree or equivalent with professional work experience in one or more specific disciplines in the program, project or commercial management disciplines. You have a membership fellow or certified fellow status with key industry professional/chartered institutions.

You have strategic and detailed understanding of health, safety and wellbeing requirements for construction methodology, innovative methods of delivery, technology, planning, delivery, site logistics, commercial and legal/contract issues. You have good knowledge of contract and commercial procedures associated with health, safety and wellness requirements.

You demonstrate leadership and core competencies at a high level of development and is an exemplary model of living the corporate Values and Code of Ethics. You look to the future to create and articulate a delivery vision and common culture. You are persuasive and can inspire colleagues. You have high political sensitivity. You Lead by example with the purpose to inspire the leadership team to inspire others within the Program Team. You focus on client satisfaction and deliver service excellence for external and internal clients. You act inclusively and treat all people with respect in a fair and consistent manner.
