Reporting to the Health and Safety Director, the **Health and Safety Coordinator,** based in Dartmouth, NS, will help promote and champion a positive Health & Safety culture in our shop and our construction fields in the region of Halifax.

**Responsibilities**
- Develop, implement and support health and safety activities and initiatives (policies, programs, procedures, COR)
- Perform weekly facility inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and identify potential hazards
- Lead COR audits and maintnain certification standards
- Evaluate and prepare written report on workplace inspections
- Evaluate the organization’s work practices in an effort to reduce or eliminate hazards
- Develop risk assessments on machines and equipment and make recommendations to Operations
- Lead incident investigations
- Follow-up on open action items, legislative requirements, and support the implementation of corrective actions
- Assist with development of safe operating procedures and best practices
- Ensure the necessary process is completed (i.e. offering immediate modified duties) in order to eliminate the risk of a lost time
- Monitors and assesses the quality of incident information and conformance to objectives and standards
- Facilitate and support hazard identification and analysis of hazardous work activities and corrective action planning and implementation
- Lead and provide support to Joint Health & Safety Committees by monitoring committee activities, status of committee issues to identify and respond to information and learning needs
- Ensures all H&S related incidents and their respective corrective actions are tracked, monitored and completed in a timely fashion
- Travel to different site locations within the Halifax region weekly and Caraquet, NB a few times a year

**Qualifications**
- College or University Degree in Health and Safety or Human Resources;
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar role;
- Bilingual (french and english);
- Travel within the region of Halifax and a couple of times per year in New Brunswick
- COR Certification (an asset)
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines;
- Strong capacity for communication, teamwork and leadership
