Our companies are COR certified and as our businesses have grown to a combined team of nearly 100, we are seeking a self-motivated, knowledgeable and energetic Health and Safety professional with a passion for Occupational Health and Safety to join our team in our Dartmouth headquarters to continue to enhance our program. Reporting to the COOs of both Cabco and Lakeview, you will be an integral team member, ensuring proper health and safety protocols are administered.

**About You**:?**:

- You have 3+ years’ experience in the safety field, preferably in the construction industry
- You are knowledgeable of current industry best practices and regulations
- You are capable of identifying issues and generating solutions and have interest in improving processes
- You have strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- You have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and a respectful communication style
- You have the ability to pass a criminal background check
- You have a valid class 5 drivers license and clean abstract
- You have excellent interpersonal, customer service, communication (both verbal and written), time management and organizational skills?
- You are technologically savvy with Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

**Essential responsibilities include**:

- Overseeing and Chairing the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, ensuring all industry and regulatory requirements are met
- Developing injury and incident prevention strategies
- Submitting Workers’ Compensation claims, liaising with wcb to proactively manage a timely and safe return to work and challenge claims if necessary.
- Leading investigations of safety concerns, incidents, accidents, near misses and property damage, communicating to management and Joint Occupational Health & Safety (JOHS) committees.
- Leading and participating in workplace audits, implementing auditor recommendations where appropriate
- Leading and participating in workplace inspections to ensure that equipment, materials and environments do not present a safety or health hazard to employees
- Reviewing and enhancing health and safety programs, including standard operating procedures, policies and training to mitigate risk, optimizing our team’s health and safety with a goal of fostering a positive occupational health and safety culture
- Regular interaction and promotion of positive safety practices with fellow team members, clients, suppliers, and legislative authorities
- Provide training to employees on issues of workplace safety
- Ensuring initial hazard assessment is completed for every project that is started
- Ensuring each site is completing required safety documentation
- Ensuring regular ladder and vehicle inspections are completed
- Tracking required safety courses and ensuring required safety courses are booked and completed
