Moncton, Canada B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives Full time

**Program Coordinator, NCAS Bilingual Assessment Centre**

**Position**:Contract position; up to 40-50 hours per month

**Compensation**:$35 per hour

**Term**:Two-year contract term with strong potential for extension

**Ideal Start Date**:September - October 2023

**Location**:Moncton, New Brunswick. This position requires staff split their time between working from home and supervising monthly assessments at the Universite de Moncton.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a healthcare professional looking for a unique way to combine your skills with events coordination? Or an events professional who enjoys high-paced environments? If you have healthcare-related experience in events management and/or administrative coordination and are eager to work in a nursing simulation lab, we’d love to meet you

The Nursing Community Assessment Service (NCAS) is looking for a Program Coordinator to help launch and run our bilingual assessment program in Moncton, NB. This planning and coordination role will provide technical, administrative, and operational support to the delivery of the NCAS Simulation Lab Assessment - a high-stakes examination for health professionals seeking licensure as nurses in New Brunswick. NCAS, through its Bilingual Assessment Centre at Universite de Moncton, will administer the NCAS Assessment for two healthcare professions. The NCAS Assessment is a comprehensive, multifaceted competency assessment that evaluates strengths and gaps in entry-level competencies, helps determine readiness to practice, and provides direction for remediation.

**NOTE**: NCAS currently runs its assessments on weekends, and occasionally runs training sessions in the evening; thus, some evening and weekend work will be required.

WHO WE ARE

The Nursing Community Assessment Service is a testing service that is part of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. BCCNM is empowered under the Health Professions Act to regulate the practice of all licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, registered midwives, registered nurses, and registered psychiatric nurses in British Columbia.

BCCNM launched NCAS in January 2017 to assess the competencies professionals seeking to enter nursing practice in BC and other parts of Canada. NCAS is a testing service that regulators rely upon to determine if an individual is safe to enter practice. We run a high-stakes assessment that includes a computer-based component that can be taken in computer labs around the world, and a simulation-lab component that must be taken at nursing simulation centres in Canada.

The Nursing Community Assessment Service is excited to be expanding its services to New Brunswick for the purpose of assessing internationally educated nurses in English and French for competencies in two professions.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations, the Program Coordinator (PC) serves as a critical navigator for internationally educated nurses and others who complete our competency assessment on site. The PC helps register and schedule assessment takers and staff and responds to queries and needs. The PC also runs NCAS’ Simulation Lab Assessment at a simulation lab at the Universite de Moncton in Moncton, New Brunswick. Assessments run like clockwork, and involve 10-20 staff, plus examinees. The PC guides and coaches all assessment centre staff, and must be able to think critically, and solve problems in the moment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The PC ensures NCAS Simulation Lab Assessments are delivered to the highest standards of security, consistency, and confidentiality as per established standards, policies, and procedures. Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Effectively communicate the information, scheduling, and navigation needs of applicants seeking an assessment
- Coordinate simulation lab assessments, including scheduling all staff, room set-up and take-down, purchasing supplies, securing event dates, and providing oversight to all assessment centre staff including nurse assessors, standardized patients, and technicians
- Facilitate the flow of assessment days, including all aspects of the assessment taker experience
- Attend assessment day sessions; ensuring all equipment, supplies and materials are prepared and meet specifications of the assessment
- Report, respond to, resolve and/or escalate as necessary all assessment site incidents
- Complete data entry, invoicing, contracts, timesheets, and manage all appeals and payments
- Deliver, monitor, and lead continuous improvement efforts for the delivery of the assessment, and for assessment taker services
- Manage a small team of part-time NCAS assessment centre staff, including recruiting, training, and monitoring performance
- Facilitate and/or develop staff training and certification sessions
- Scheduling all temporary employees, assessment takers; liaising with simulation lab provider to develop, optimize and revise (as necessary) annual, rolling assessment date calendar
