**Developmental Support Assistant**
**Location**: Fort Saskatchewan
**Type**: Contract
**Pay**: $18.50-$21.25/hour (based on Childcare Certification Level)

**Hours**: Minimum of 6 hours to a maximum of 30 hours per week

**Overview**

The Developmental Support Assistant (DSA) supports children who experience difficulties with social, emotional, physical, and language development. Working with a multidisciplinary learning team (Teacher, SLP, OT, PT), the DSA helps deliver individualized services to multiple children, in their respective programs.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Support children in daily activities and social interactions.
- Implement recommendations and feedback from the learning team.
- Meet with the learning team to integrate strategies while working on the child’s goals.
- Attend team meetings and mandatory training.
- Maintain daily documentation.
- May, on occasion, assist with personal care needs (e.g., diapering, medical needs).

**Requirements**:

- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within 6 months or more recent prior to hire date. Must be provided before start date at placement).
- Level 1 Childcare Staff Certification (or obtained within 3 months of hire date).
- Intervention Record Check (dated within 6 months or more recent prior to hire date. Must be obtained within 3 months of hire date).
- Standard Child Care First Aid with CPR & AED certification or Standard First Aid with CPR & AED (or obtained within 3 months of hire date). Must be a three-year certification.

**Working Conditions**
- This position will be located in a daycare or a preschool of the family’s choice.
- Working days Monday to Friday
- Hours of work:
- Minimum of 6 hours to a maximum of 30 hours per week
- Shifts schedule vary between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM.
- This position requires travel to placements.
- Placement location(s) may change with minimum notice to support program requirements.
- Physical requirements:
- Frequent kneeling/squatting (up to 50% of the shift).
- Frequent walking/standing (up to 50% of the shift).
- Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
- Must have the ability to run to ensure child’s safety, if necessary.
- Outdoor work, including inclement weather.
- Closed for Winter/Spring Breaks and Stat Holidays (aligned with Edmonton Public School calendar).
