**THE OPPORTUNITY**

The UGDSB is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Financial Services team for a summer work term as **Junior Financial Analyst.**

**Location**:
Guelph Board Office (500 Victoria Rd. N, Guelph, ON)

**Rate of Pay**:
$18.50 per hour, plus applicable vacation pay in accordance with the Employment Standards Act

**Board Information**:
Temporary full time; 35 hours per week; Monday to Friday

**Length of Assignment**:
May 1, 2024, with an anticipated end date of August 30, 2024

Reporting directly to the Finance Managers, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects in an engaging team environment. This role will be responsible for assisting the Finance department with a variety of duties that support the critical functions of Finance. During your time at the UGDSB you will gain exposure to a wide range of Finance projects in a supportive and collaborative environment.

**Responsibilities include but not limited to**:

- Prepares customized financial reports of the Board’s financial activities for various internal and external users including Schools, Management, Senior Administration, Ministry of Education, etc.
- Performs regular review and analysis of financial data, identifying trends and explaining variances.
- Supports School Generated Funds accounting and reporting, and provides leadership in any software or procedural changes for school generated funds accounting.
- Delivers presentations to communicate finance concepts and finance department policies and procedures.
- Provides guidance and training to non-finance system leaders and admin staff related to financial issues and questions.
- Manages assigned balance sheet accounts by investigating any discrepancies, preparing necessary adjusting journal entries and maintaining monthly reconciliations.
- Reviews financial transactions to ensure compliance with Board policies, plans and procedures, laws and regulations.
- Prepares and posts journal entries to general ledger
- Responsible for timely processing of donations and scholarship payments for the Upper Grand Learning Foundation
- Provides support to the Finance Department by being versatile and adaptable to multiple tasks, deadlines and competing priorities
- Other duties as assigned

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a post secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration or Finance related program
- Approximately 1 year of work experience in similar role, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Thorough understanding and skills in the use of financial information systems, report writing and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to provide presentations to larger groups
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet timelines
- Excellent attention to detail and excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
