**Qualifications**:

- Completion of recognized course in recreation or a related field or experience working in “recreation/activation field”.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Skills in planning, coordinating and implementation of programs to meet the diverse needs of the residents.
- Ability to work independently; to prioritize tasks and organize work efficiently.
- Understanding and awareness of the aging process and respect resident’s rights and confidentiality.
- Ability to motivate, supervise staff and work effectively with others.
- Ability to maintain financial records for the Activity Department and Resident Council.
- Physical ability necessary.

**Duties include but not limited to**:
Within the context of a resident and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of Granite Ridge, the Activity Coordinator plans, develops and implements recreational and social activities designed to meet the needs of the residents. Preparation of program budgets; monitors expenditures and completes financial documents to purchase supplies and equipment. Supervises assigned staff as needed. Meets with service providers to assess activity and/or residents objectives and goals; liaises with others to promote residents participation. Fosters a pleasant/stimulating environment, participates in life skills, recreational and/or social activities designed to meet the needs of residents; provides demonstrations to aid with reducing resident’s distress, improve/maintain functioning, enable independence and acts as a role model. Promotes resident participation in programs; provides encouragement, prepares newsletters and posters, communicates events and meets with residents to advise of the upcoming. Maintains program attendance records and develops monthly calendar of events and activities.
