Boardwalk Optical Boutique opened in 1979 to fill a need for quality eyeglasses in the Cambridge area, and we now serve the wider Tri-City area, from Cambridge to Waterloo. Our boutique has an extensive collection of designer eyeglasses, prescription lenses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and many other products to serve the vision needs of people of all ages.
We are seeking an Optical and Administrative Assistant to join our growing team.
You should be capable and confident in your abilities, enjoy working in a team-oriented environment and eager to learn more. We're looking for individuals who are passionate about eye care in Ontario.
**Some of your duties will include**:
- Perform pre-testing for Optometrist appointments
- Advise patients with frame, lens & sunglass selection, and offer the best advice based on customer requests and lifestyle. Support the Optician with measurements and adjustments as needed.
- Support duties related to maintaining accurate inventory, including entering new stock, packaging lab shipments, and book-keeping
- Conduct recalls to schedule appointments for previous patients and customers
- Overall management of the patient and customer schedules for the Optometrist and Optician; provide reminders for appointments to patients
- Complete paperwork and file information related to customer/client/patient records, eye prescriptions, eyeglass orders, invoices, returns, payments.
- Take payments from customers and complete sales sheets as required. Direct bill through various insurance platforms.
**Qualifications**
- 2+ years of experience in an administrative, optical, or medical environment is highly preferred
- 2+ years of experience in a retail/sales environment providing exceptional customer service
- A professional, honest, and fun-loving attitude with a strong passion for delivering high quality service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills is a must; Must be fluent in English
- Strong multi-tasking, time management, and organizational skills
- Experience scheduling, reporting, ordering, inventory management, and other administrative duties
- Ability to stay calm when presented with challenging customers
- Highly detail-oriented and able to learn and use new technologies
- Interest in eyewear trends and a good eye for fashion
- Experience in insurance billing is considered an asset
- Must be available Mondays 10am-5pm, and Saturdays 10am-2pm
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 - 12 per week
