The Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) Specialist will provide compliance oversight and project management to ENMAX Energy Corporation (EEC), via the development, implementation, and continual improvement of a regulated ARS compliance program.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure that EEC remains compliant with regulatory requirements by maintaining accurate and organized evidence that meets internal and regulator specifications.- implement a risk-based framework and systematic approach to evaluating and managing the reliability and regulatory risks associated with operating generation plants and equipment.- Maintain a collaborative relationship with the AESO and MSA, perform research and provide input on upcoming AESO initiatives to ensure alignment with EEC business and operational objectives.- Monitor and track AESO regulatory activities, plans and proposals, and ensure that EEC effectively plans and budgets for new regulatory requirements.- Identify & interpret Alberta Reliability Standards (“ARS”) requirements applicable to EEC’s generating facilities and associated equipment components.- Determining and reporting the cause of regulatory noncompliance by leading or coordinating causal analysis investigations, preparing self-reports to the Alberta Market Surveillance Administrator (MSA), and developing Mitigation plans that prevent the future recurrence of events.- Monthly and Quarterly reporting of regulatory-related events, conditions and activities that impact EEC’s generation fleet, and reporting significant events to the Executive Leadership team.- Review generating equipment maintenance, testing protocols, records, and reports to ensure compliance is maintained. Identify, report, and resolve equipment maintenance and testing shortfalls.- Enhance ARS awareness by communicating with internal stakeholders on a regular basis and assisting with any questions that relate to the programs.- Fulfill a role in EEC’s Incident Command System.- Prepare, collect and validate audit and self-certification evidence, and provision to the AESO.- Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of ARS program performance dashboards.
Education Required:
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Business or in a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education or experience in compliance and/or utility roles.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years previous applied experience in compliance/regulatory program development and implementation or utility experience.- Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements within the scope of ARS and their impact on the Alberta Interconnected Electrical System (AIES), EEC and its employees.- Experience creating, developing, and implementing compliance programs.- Previous experience in a compliance role involving AESO, AUC, MSA, and/or NERC.- Ability to develop and implement procedures, along with strong technical writing skills.- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerBI and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably IBM Maximo.- Experience identifying and assessing compliance related events and working collaboratively to conduct root cause analysis investigations and implementing corrective/preventive actions.- Project Management experience involving cross-functional teams for new regulatory requirements.

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
