**What you’ll do**
- Supervise Lab Assistants and other designated staff by performing duties such as scheduling, coordinating and prioritizing work assignments, assisting with evaluating employee performance, and determining related training and orientation requirements.
- Call in and allocates relief staff to fill temporary vacancies in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform clerical duties such as processing billing paperwork, performing timekeeping functions, compiling workload statistics, making patient appointments, maintaining filing system for lab reports, monitoring and ordering phlebotomy and office supplies, answering the telephone and entering patient information and test results into the laboratory information system. Communicate test results to designated parties and handle inquiries from other health care professionals.
- Perform the duties of a Laboratory Assistant as required including specimen collection, preparation and testing and related clerical functions.
- Provide input into the department's orientation, policy and procedures manual on areas pertaining to the work performed by Lab Assistants at the assigned site; assist with maintaining manuals by typing approved updates as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area according to established policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, plus three years' recent, related experience including one year in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
