**Description**

The Director of Quality Care and Truth and Reconciliation is primarily responsible for ensuring that SCP’s programs and services are effective, efficient, and compliant with all regulatory standards and best practices while playing a key role in SCP’s commitment to truth, healing, and reconciliation. In this dual leadership role they will monitor, evaluate, and lead efforts to continuously improve the quality of services delivered to youth while driving organizational excellence and maximizing agency impact.

**The ‘Walking in Two Worlds’ Initiative**

This initiative seeks to provide both Indigenous and non Indigenous youth and staff the opportunity to learn to successfully navigate western society and to connect to, and find value in, Indigenous cultures, people, and communities. The initiative includes, but is not limited to:

- Increasing Indigenous representation at all levels of staffing at SCP
- Increasing funding for positions and resources that promote and enhance connection to Indigenous cultures and communities
- Offering SCP cultural events/programming
- Supporting attending community cultural events

The initiative aims to expand to the wider community to create opportunities for Indigenous and non Indigenous exchanges, community building, education opportunities and awareness in an effort to challenge stereotypes/misconceptions, increase understanding, and reduce individual, community, and systemic racism while increasing partnerships/relationships between Indigenous and non Indigenous people and groups.

**Quality of Care Duties & Responsibilities (Outcomes to be monitored quarterly)**

In collaboration with the SCO, develop a quality management system to assess services, monitor compliance, track outcomes, and improve quality of care.
- Develop resources, tools, and training materials as needed to support staff development and promote best practices
- Support program staff to develop skills and knowledge in quality assurance, program evaluation, and performance improvement.
- Monitor/ensure agency compliance with, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and contractual obligations related to youth service
- Mitigate risk and address non compliance issues through regular program audits, assessments, and reviews
- Work with leadership in respective areas to identify opportunities for service enhancement and innovation
- Collaborate with program staff, leadership team, and external partners to implement quality improvement initiatives
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of quality assurance activities, findings, and outcomes for reporting, monitoring, and evaluation purposes
- Prepare and submit regular reports on program performance, quality indicators, and outcomes to internal stakeholders

**Truth and Reconciliation Duties & Responsibilities (Outcomes to be monitored quarterly)**

Through community engagement and coordination of SCP’s Cultural Team, develop, implement, and expand resources for the ‘Walking in Two Worlds’ initiative.
- Increase the opportunity for cultural experience and connections for youth and staff through partnerships with community organizations, Indigenous leaders, Elders, etc.
- Acquire resources to provide cultural experience and connections for youth and staff through relationship building with groups, individuals, businesses and First Nations
- Facilitate engagement in community-led initiatives and events that promote healing, reconciliation, and culture
- **D**evelop and implement ‘Walking in two worlds’ initiatives in collaboration with CSO, senior leaders, and cultural team.
- Facilitate (and/or coordinate facilitators) on Indigenous culture, experience, justice and history for SCP staff and youth.
- Oversee the cultural team and ensure they are meeting their targets, documenting their efforts and maximizing their impact.
- Coordinate an in-house cultural committee to assist with initiatives and expand the cultural team's reach

**Qualifications (Education & Experience)**
- Bachelor's degree required (master’s degree preferred) in social work, psychology, public health, education, counseling or related field
- Preference to those with experience in the non-profit or youth services sector

- Working with youth, Indigenous populations, and youth in care
- Youth centered, trauma informed, and strength-based approaches
- Quality care assessment, safety regulations and youth rights
