Position Competency and Quality Assurance Facilitator

**Supervisor**: Director of Competency Assurance

**Primary Position Objectives**:Responsible for the implementation, assessment, and assurance of the SCPP work in the areas of professional competency, quality, and scope of practice as it relates to the professional practice of members.

**Position Responsibilities**:Competency Coordinate and facilitate access to programs as directed by the SCPP and Programming Director of Competency Assurance, which includes implementation of SCPP’s competency program and advanced scope of practice initiatives.
- Conduct, monitor, review, analyze, and report on data collected through surveys and assessments to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Conduct regular audits of licensed members and licensed pharmacies with respect to compliance with continuing professional development and all applicable legislation, bylaws, standards, guidelines, and policies.
- Provide education via online platforms and in person to members as required regarding competency assurance and scope of practice; including training, assessment, and standardization for assessors.
- Coordinate and implement processes for correcting deficiencies in competency of registered and licensed members.
- In conjunction with the Director of Competency Assurance, draft the blueprint for, and review, the jurisprudence exam annually to ensure appropriateness and report to the Deputy Registrar.
- Responsible for facilitation of assessment at entry to practice through the jurisprudence exam.
- Facilitate training, education, and standardization of assessors.
- Responsible to operationalize instructions provided by the SCPP.
- Assist in the preparation of periodic reports to the SCPP on competency assurance and scope of practice.
- Contribute to establishing, implementing, and reporting on the organizational strategy, as well as supporting the day-to-day initiatives of the SCPP.

**Collaboration**: Engage with various stakeholders such as Drug Plan Extended Benefits Branch, eHealth, Prescription Review Program, medSask, Continuing Professional Development for Pharmacy Professionals, SCPP Council, and SCPP unit heads to identify industry trends that may be addressed through competency programming and advanced scope of practice.
- Work with relevant SCPP Committees.
- In conjunction with the Director, will work in collaboration with complaints, field operation and the policy and legislation unit.
- Respond to inquiries from the public, stakeholders, and licensed members, as appropriate.

**Miscellaneous**: Maintain current knowledge of trends, events or occurrences related to pharmacy practice, quality improvement, scope of practice, the
Canadian and Saskatchewan healthcare systems, and the competency of pharmacy professionals, and keep the Director of Competency
Assurance informed of same.
- Assist the U of S College of Pharmacy and Nutrition and Saskatchewan Polytechnic, in the education of students with respect to competency and advanced scope issues, if and as requested.
- Create and contribute content for newsletter articles.
- Assist in the development or amendment of forms, resource materials or tools, as necessary.
- In conjunction with the Director of Competency Assurance, contribute to the annual report, and other reports as required.

**Position Requirements, Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Post-Secondary Degree in Pharmacy
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in pharmacy practice
- Registered and licensed with SCPP and in good standing, or eligible for licensure
- Holds a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s licence.
