The Canadian Press is seeking a talented and experienced reporter/editor to join our sports department for an 10-month (May 1, 2023 to March 10, 2024) full-time contract position working out of our B.C. bureau in Vancouver.

**Responsibilities**
- Write, edit and gather multimedia content for CP’s various services (print, online, broadcast, video)
- Shift work and travel required, including evenings and weekends
- Pitch and execute creative story ideas that go deeper than day-to-day spot coverage
- Covering major sporting events, both in-person and remotely.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key sources in the sports industry.
- Along with reporting, the successful applicant will be expected to work occasional night shifts on the sports desk — producing, editing and publishing content.

**Qualifications**
- Experience working in a real-time newsroom
- Strong knowledge of a wide variety of sports, including hockey, football, soccer and winter sports
- Solid writing, editing and interviewing skills
- Strong journalistic skills, including the ability to generate story ideas independently and think outside the box
- Solid news judgment and critical thinking
- Ability to make effective decisions quickly and under tight deadlines
- Adept in the use of social media as a newsgathering tool
- Strong technical skills in terms of using multimedia equipment, including audio and video recorders
- Knowledge of CP style
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Capable of troubleshooting technical issues

**Reporter-rédacteur(trice) - Sport (contrat de 10 mois)**

La Presse Canadienne est à la recherche d’un(e) reporter-rédacteur(trice) talentueux(se) et expérimenté(e) pour se joindre à notre section des sports pour un poste contractuel à temps plein de 10 mois (1er mai 2023 au 10 mars 2024) à notre bureau de Colombie-Britannique à Vancouver.

La personne choisie aura une passion pour les sports ainsi qu’une expérience avérée dans la production de contenu de haute qualité dans des délais serrés.

**Responsabilités**
- Rédiger, réviser et rassembler du contenu multimédia pour les divers services de la PC (écrit, radio, vidéo, en ligne)
- Des quarts de travail et des déplacements sont prévus, y compris les soirées et les week-ends
- Proposer et réaliser des idées originales de reportage pour aller au-delà de la couverture quotidienne de l’actualité
- Couvrir les grands événements sportifs, en personne ou à distance
- Établir et maintenir des relations avec des sources clés dans le milieu du sport
- En plus du reportage, la personne choisie sera affectée au quart de nuit au pupitre des sports pour produire, réviser et transmettre du contenu.

**Compétences**
- Expérience de travail dans une salle de rédaction en temps réel
- Excellente connaissance d’une large variété de sports, incluant le hockey, le football, le soccer et les sports d’hiver
- Solides compétences en matière de rédaction, révision et techniques d’entrevue
- Excellentes habiletés journalistiques, dont la capacité de générer des idées de reportage indépendamment et de sortir des sentiers battus
- Solide jugement journalistique et esprit critique
- Habileté à prendre des décisions efficaces rapidement sous la pression de délais serrés
- Habileté à utiliser les réseaux sociaux pour obtenir de l’information
- Excellentes aptitudes techniques pour l’utilisation de l’équipement multimédia, incluant les enregistreuses audio et vidéo
- Connaissance du style de la PC
- Habileté à travailler de façon autonome ainsi qu’un sein d’une équipe
- Capacité de régler des problèmes techniques
