Hobart is the leading supplier of equipment, systems and service in the food industry. Hobart offers the broadest line of equipment including cooking, food preparation, refrigeration, bakery systems, warewashing and waste systems, and weighing, wrapping and labeling systems. Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario with branch offices in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Montreal, Québec, Toronto, Ontario, Edmonton, Alberta, and Vancouver, British Columbia. The company employs over 200 people. Included in this number are over 100 service technicians providing nationwide service.

Reporting to the Service Business Unit Manager. The position oversees all service-related accounting practices including accounting and credit & collection departments, preparing budgets and financial reports. It directs financial strategy, planning and forecasts working with the Service Business Unit Manager and Divisional Controller. It also oversees the IT department, dispatch/invoicing, internal controls and risk management.

You are comfortable preparing and presenting financial information to senior management. and possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. You bring organizational change management experience and have a track record of successfully leading process improvement initiatives across an organization. You have a customer focused mind-set, strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills and have a high level of integrity and work ethic. You must be proficient with Excel and have experience with ERP systems.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Produce accurate and timely financial statements
- Ensure that proper accounting policies and procedures are in place and ensure their compliance with guidelines and policies of Parent Company and GAAP
- Perform periodic evaluation of the reserves such as warranty reserve, vacation accruals, bad debt provision, inventory reserve and other accruals
- Provide reasons for trends in sales, margins and expenses, establish proper variance analysis process
- Review statements before closing books and issuing the results to stakeholders
- Communicate results to Parent Company in U.S. and explain variances to forecast
- Review account reconciliations
- Communicate with the Accounting Manager re month end process, provide guidelines on accounting policies and procedures, assign projects
- Communicate with other departments to ensure integrity and accuracy of Financial Statements
- Comply with statutory requirements
- Coordinate planning activities, setting up timeline and communicating it along with deliverables to all related parties
- Ensure the accuracy of monthly forecast, annual budget and long-range strategic plan
- Collect financial data and other information required to produce accurate forecasts, budgets and Capital Planning
- Direct and train members of the accounting department throughout the whole planning process
- Review and revise existing and develop new internal control procedures to prevent errors and fraud
- Review, update and submit annual internal control questionnaire to U.S. Parent Company
- Review general ledger account reconciliations on a regular basis
- Support internal audits within the organization
- Ensure reliability of financial information
- Oversee staffing requirements and employee development to meet departmental needs for Accounting, IT, Dispatch and Invoicing.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide information related to succession planning
- Support the Regional Service Managers by providing financial analysis
- Assess operating results and communicate potential problems to senior management team
- Responsible for Service risk management and cash flow
- Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Attend to duties and projects as assigned by the Service Business Manager

**Requirements**:

- 10+ years experience in Finance/accounting management role
- Bachelor’s degree in Administration or Accounting or a related field
- Professional accounting designation CMA or CGA, an MBA would be considered an asset
- Experience in a service and/or manufacturing related industry is preferred
