**EVENTS COORDINATOR**

**Marketing, Sales, and Events**

**SUMMARY**:
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develops relationships with community-based organizations, festivals, external booking agents/presenters/promoters, local artists, Events Coordinators, and others, to seek ways to engage the community and bring business SNGRDC.
- Assist in the recruitment, selection and training of event full time employees, part time employees, summer students and volunteers.
- Monitor the day-to-day delivery of programming initiatives and services to maintain or improve quality.
- Work directly with the Manager of Marketing to develop and implement an effective marketing plan for all programming initiatives; monitor results and modify as necessary.
- Creating and maintaining event plans, site maps, production schedules, vendor and activity tracking spreadsheets, volunteer management documents and other event-related documents and administration.
- Assist in developing pricing plans, single ticket marketing budgets, selling tactics, targeted promotions, and outreach efforts in ensure achievement of fiscal year budget sales goals.
- Ensure the event spaces remain professional, welcoming, and accessible.
- Facilitate community programs and provide support to other facilitators as well program participants.
- Oversee the development, coordination, and implementation of all services to be geared towards the community of Six Nations.
- Identify, implement, and monitor commercial opportunities and services to raise revenue.
- Related administrative tasks, including administering purchase order requests, filing regular event reports, and working collaboratively to ensure timely and accurate processing of estimates, and invoices. Requesting and tracking insurance from third parties at events.
- Oversees the development of meeting space and arrange for required technology and catering services to meet the demands of customers.
- Prepare meeting space/event packages and other information packages - identifies, collects, collates, and forwards materials.
- Provide event/space rental information/materials for website, social media, and visitors.
- Pursue new and innovative programming opportunities that will attract new markets and increase visitors to SNGRDC properties.
- Provide event support at SNGRDC properties where necessary.
- Perform other duties as required.

**ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Ability to work unsupervised and balance multiple priorities while acting as a key point person in a busy event environment. Research long-term strategies to improve the viability and growth of local artisans.
- Remain informed of industry trends and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of Six Nations history and culture.
- Proactive with the ability to problem solve and anticipate needs.
- Reliable, responsible, and accountable
- A strong work ethic with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- The ability to perform well under pressure and to assess and prioritize workload.
- Ability to handle the public with tact, discretion, and with a pleasing personality.

**EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE***

Minimum Requirements:

- Successful completion of a degree or diploma in event management/coordination, arts administration, project management, public relations or similar program and two years’ direct experience.

OR
- College Diploma in Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, Business Management, or a related field with two years’ direct experience.
- Creativity to develop innovative solutions, knowledge of special events trends within the cultural sector.
- Event Experience in cultural events, corporate events, festivals, and hospitality a major asset.
- Strong foundation and experience in community event development, planning, and policy development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and have access to a vehicle for use to attend various events sites.
- Must pass a police record check.
- Willingness to learn, accept change, and adapt to new ideas, business concepts, and cultures.
- Flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends (outside normal business hours will be required).

Error in judgement and conduct of duties may lead to loss of credibility, poor public relations, public confidence, and misinformation resulting in embarrassment and potential liability to the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation.
