**Job Summary**:
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Develop and foster strategies and partnerships to drive climate change initiatives for the City and in the community.
- Lead research and technical analysis including greenhouse gas (GHG) quantification and modelling and tracking progress towards the City’s GHG targets.
- Lead the design and delivery of new projects and program areas to advance the City’s work on climate change.
- Serve as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, municipal partners, and other levels of government.
- Liaise with utility companies, conservation authorities, post-secondary institutions, businesses, developers, land owners, and other external stakeholders.
- Work with the Environment Section and Corporate communications teams to support media releases and engagement efforts including stakeholder events, panels and community engagement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary Education in climate change, urban planning, engineering, environmental studies, science or related field or equivalent with a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in environment and/or climate change sector; experience in both private and public sector is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions/strategies, community energy planning and energy mapping, risk assessments, climate data and science and emerging climate tools (e.g. carbon and climate budgets) and reporting frameworks appropriate for municipalities such as Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy and the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures).
- Solid understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal policies, regulations, climate change trends and technological solutions.
- Strong business acumen with professional experience in climate change consulting, financing, business, and/or governments.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead complex interdepartmental projects and to influence outcomes in a positive manner.
- Ability to negotiate, build consensus, and present information to varied audiences in a concise and sensitive manner.
- Openness and willingness to learn new skills and a personal commitment to continuous development.
- Exceptional communication skills with proven experience developing and delivering formal and informal presentations and providing clear and concise written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to embrace diverse perspectives and build and foster relationships.
- Strong research, analytical and problem solving skills supported by leadership competencies including agility, resourcefulness, and strategic thinking.
- Ability to self-manage in a timely and organized fashion and successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Well versed in Office 2010, including Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are essential.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 83,485.00 - $ 111,315.00
