We are currently recruiting for a Utilities Operator to work in our Technical Services department. Reporting to the Technical Service Manager, the Utilities Operator's duties include planning, organizing, operating, and maintaining the water treatment plants, water distribution systems, wastewater collection and wastewater treatment systems of the County of Grande Prairie. They will also liaise with utility customers.

This position requires approximately 20 hours of travel time per week. Overtime and standby often leads to working extended hours and/or working late nights and early mornings. It is a physically demanding position that involves working outdoors, in confined spaces and unsanitary conditions.

**Education and Experience**:

- Minimum Grade 12 or GED equivalent
- Certification for Level 1 or Level 2 water/wastewater(or willingness to attain as soon as possible)
- H2S, First Aid, Trenching, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS,TDG
- Previous experience in municipal Water/Wastewater would be an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract
