**Safety and Compliance Manager**

Triple Eight Transport is an asset-based carrier company with terminals in Abbotsford BC, Calgary AB, and Acheson AB. We provide full-truckload transportation services to and from all major cities in Western Canada and the United States

**Who we are looking for**:
**Responsibilities Include**:

- Work in partnership with senior management to promote a health and safety culture.
- Develop health and safety goals for the company ensuring they meet all fiscal, strategic and legislative requirements
- Continual communication of health and safety information to all business stakeholders
- Be apprised of all legislation changes as it related to the department
- Oversee the JOHSC’s activities at the various worksites to ensure their continued effectiveness in the overall safety program
- Manage all incidents to ensure proper procedure is followed in office and documentation is accurate, complete and communicated as needed
- Serve as an expert and resource on all areas of safety and compliance, including regulation and best-practices
- Ensure company is meeting or exceeding all legislative requirements
- Continually assessing the safety knowledge within the various levels of the company, and making recommendations for training to address any gaps
- Develop, host and/or coordinate training sessions in various topics as needed
- Conduct regular audits of BC terminal to ensure compliance
- Coordinate with various departments in order to achieve mutual goals and maintain efficiencies

**People Management**:

- Coaches, trains, and mentor’s Safety personnel
- Conducts driver performance evaluations, establishes goals, and resolves performance issues.
- Assist and coaches’ Safety in the management of driver performance/driver record and relationships.
- Ensures a positive team environment between customers, drivers, and employees.
- Communicates and provides constructive feedback as required.

**Financial**
- Accountable for the financial performance of the business in regard to safety by their team.
- Ensures achievement of key performance indicators.
- Identifies opportunities for increased profitability and cost savings

**Qualifications**:

- A degree or diploma in Business, Health &Safety or related discipline required.
- Minimum 5 years’ health and safety management experience in the transportation industry.
- Extensive understanding of Federal Health and Safety Regulations, such as the Canada Labour Code, Motor Vehicle Act, National Safety Code, and Workers Compensation Act.
- Comprehensive experience with incident investigation and determination of causation
- Strong interpersonal skills and leadership.
- Proficient reading, writing and speaking English.
- Highly organized and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
