**About Our Opportunity**:
The Nova Scotia Museum is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic assistant to assist with the pictorial collection digitization and digital asset management. This project will support the Nova Scotia Museum's accessibility goals with the intent of digitizing hardcopy material and updating obsolete digital media to current standards in preparation for being accessible through an online collection.

The assistant will research best practices for long term storage and upkeep of hard copy and digital materials and provide recommendations to maintain these materials. As well, the assistant will make recommendations on which artefacts and specimens should be prioritized for new photographs based on the quality and stability of the current material. The assistant will write a report on their findings and recommendations, this will include an indexed finding aid for photographic materials and digital assets. This may include some re-organization of the physical materials in the photography and documents rooms. Some light lifting and moving of boxes, up to 30 lbs/box will be required.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
Accountabilities include assisting with:

- Conducting inventories of pictorial materials both hard copy and obsolete digital media, creating a prioritization key for digitization and updating obsolete digital media.
- Scanning and digitization of visual materials
- Scanning and image processing, possibly some basic photography
- Data entry and report writing

**Qualifications and Experience**:
They will also have the following:

- Strong communication and organizational skills; attention to detail.
- Self-motivation: ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to take direction and accommodate constructive criticism.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience with databases is an asset.

**Additional Information**:

- Must be returning to school in the Fall of 2024.
- Filling this position is contingent on receipt of funding from the Young Canada Works program.

**Salary Range**: $18.00 - Bi-Weekly
